Our food

The Plough has long been noted for the excellent quality and value of its meals, why? Because we have an expert and imaginative chef and we only use the best quality, fresh, local produce. None of our meals are microwaved from processed or frozen foods - and you can really tell the difference.

Our food serving times are 12.00 - 2.30 all week in either room and in the evenings 6-9. We have now merged the two menus so that you can now eat in the bar too. We can get very busy, so it is always advisable to book in advance for evening meals, especially on weekends.

Of course as our meals are cooked freshly with local produce the menus change frequently - daily in fact - and so it is impossible to keep the current menu up to date on the website. Below is the menu as of July 2008 - however it may have changed a little by the time you visit us.

On wednesday nights we now hold a steak night with either a 10z sirloin or 10oz rump steak available with all the trimmings for £10. There are also fish and vegetarian selections and desserts are only £2 each.

Homemade Stews

Traditional Welsh cawl with creamy mash or chips
Local game stew (venison, pheasant, rabbit) cooked in port and redcurrants with creamy mash or chips
Tender diced beef cooked in Guinness with creamy mash or chips

Veggie Selection

Locally made Glamorgan sausages with herb mayo, crisp salad & chips
Moroccan lentil stew with rice, chips or ½ and 1/2
Homemade veg lasagne with crisp salad & chips
Goats cheese, mushroom & courgette frittata with crisp salad & new pots

Salads

Smoked duck salad with hoi sin dressing
Welsh cheese ploughmans with pickled onions, chutney, coleslaw & crusty bread

Teriyaki steak in a ciabatta roll with salad & chips
Tuna melt with salad & chips

Steak - £13.50 (Evening only)

Pan fried sirloin steak, roast tomatoes, mushrooms, chips with port & stilton or peppercorn sauce

Wednesday night is now steak night - 8oz sirloin or 10oz rump with all the trimmings plus choice of sauce for only £10 and desserts are just £2! We now do a bar menu on sunday nights between six and nine.

We have also extended food on saturdays with a reduced menu from 2.30 til 5. Remember to book for satuday nights as it does get full.

Live music from Colum Regan on August the 2nd - Beer festival weekend is now August the 8th, 9th and 10th!
